2015: Promotion Scandal Rocks INEC

2015 general elections appear to be under threat as some senior officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, vested with the responsibility of planning and implementing the vote, are enmeshed in a dispute with the Chairman of the Commission, Prof. Attahiru Jega.
The affected staff, who had taken their promotion examination since May 2012 and had been expecting their promotion letters having passed the test, are angry that the Commission has not only withheld the result but has also gone ahead to use extraneous criteria to promote selected staff from some states in the country.

Yoruba, Totally Ungrateful Kind Of People – Ahmadu Ali

Former national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr Ahmadu Ali, has described the Yoruba people of south west Nigeria as a “totally ungrateful kind of people”.
Ali, who said this in an interview culled from The SUN, was speaking on the background of the fact that former head of state, General Olusegun Obasano (retd) could have held on to power in 1979 but chose to hand over to a democratically elected president.
According to him, “After all, it is the gun that got them there. And you people still don’t recognise him (Obasanjo), especially the Yoruba people who are totally ungrateful kind of people in this country.” When prodded further on if he should be quoted, Ali thundered, “Put it like that. They are ungrateful” and went further to correct the impression that Obasanjo was unfair to Yoruba people throughout his time in government. “What do you mean by being unfair to them?” he asked.
“He is not a tribalist and he was not ruling a Yoruba kingdom. He ruled Nigeria. My own kingdom is one of the oldest kingdoms in this country –Igala kingdom. By 1100 or so when the barbarians were invading Britain, Igala was already a kingdom. How do you expect the man to behave?”

Love Eating Prawns? You'll Go Right Off Them After We Tell You What They Are Fed On

Eating Prawns? You'll Go Right Off Them After We Tell You What They Are
Fed On
These days we pick up a packet of frozen prawns from the supermarket almost without thinking. They’re healthy, flavour-some and cheap enough to count as an affordable treat, perhaps on a skewer for a barbecue or daintily arranged for a dinner party starter.
If we give even a moment’s thought about where they come from we probably imagine a sun-burnished fisherman skilfully tossing his nets out into the tropical waters of the Indian Ocean or South China Sea before hauling in his valuable catch.

VIDEO: Nigerians Reaction To Alam’s Pardon Is ‘Sophisticated Ignorance’ – Abati

Dr Reuben Abati while speaking about the state pardon granted to former Governor of Bayelsa state, Diepreye Alamieyeseigha described the widespread reaction to the pardon as ‘Sophisticated Ignorance’.
The President’s aide explained the constitutional procedure of state pardons and how the decision is reached not just by President but with members of the council of state, hence the utmost use of wisdom in reaching the final decision.

He noted that the conviction of a Nigerian does not mean that such an individual should be locked out of the society. The state pardon, he claims is to help restore such convicts back in the society.

Men See Me As A Sex Symbol — Seyi Shay

Photo - Men see me
as a sex symbol — Seyi ShayBackground
I am Oluwaseyi Joshua, popularly known as Seyi Shay. I am from Ife in Osun State. I am a rap artiste. I was born and raised in the United Kingdom. I went to Queens College, Yaba, Lagos for a couple of years but completed my secondary school in England, where I also attended the University of East London. I read business management.
Me, my music
Music found me. I grew up in a household of three other siblings (I’m the youngest), my sister sang in the church choir with my mother. She used to write songs and I watched her write and sing songs when I was about four years. Also, my brother was a disc jockey and he used to practise at home.
At the age of 14 (I am 26 now), I became a professional singer. I joined London Community Gospel Choir, my school choir, on an annual tour to Japan. I was 14, going to 15 and I spent my 15th birthday on stage in Japan. I got my first pay for doing music. Later, the band broke up, my mother died a year later and I found myself in another girl band. It was formed by two European girls, one Mauritian and one mixed-race girl and me.

Apart from him, other heads of state who stayed away from the meeting were Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) and Gen. Ibrahim Babangida (retd.).
