Explosion Rocks MR BIGGS Karu-Abuja

The residents of Karu, a satellite town of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) who were in the mood of Easter Celebration, were thrown into pandemonium on Monday evening, when an explosion suspected to be from a waste can rocked an empty and undeveloped plot of land behind the MR. BIGGS franchise in the area.

The explosion, which is said to have occurred around 4.35pm rattled passers by and shattered the glass windows of nearby buildings, especially that of Karu Shopping Complex housing MR.BIGGS.
Some eye witnesses said the impact of the explosion was felt very far away from the Karu Motor Park "Round About" where it took place.

107 Year-Old Woman Seeks First Husband

Wang Guiying was born in southern Guizhou province, the child of a salt merchant. She grew up watching her uncles and other men scold and beat their wives and this made her fear marriage.

After Wang’s father, mother and older sister died, she still shied away from marriage and moved to the countryside where she survived as a farmer until she was 74 years old and no longer strong enough to work in the fields.
Now Wang has decided that it’s time to forget the past and take the bull by the horns, so to speak. She told the press that she hopes to find a fellow centenarian so they will have something to talk about.
She came to her decision because she was worried that she had become a burden to her aging nieces and nephews, especially since she was forced to stop helping with household chores since breaking her leg when she was 102.
“My nephews and nieces are getting older and their children are already tied up with their own families and I am becoming more and more of a burden. I’m already 107 and I still haven’t gotten married. What will happen if I don’t hurry up and find a husband?”

An aviation department worker said Madonna's jet landed at the Kamuzu International Airport in the country's capital, Lilongwe, early Monday. It was not clear if she came with her children.

Yesterday Sunday March 31st, college basketball player, Kevin Ware, 20, suffered one of the most gruesome injuries in the history of sports while playing on the court...and it was all caught on camera. Kevin broke his leg...literally...after jumping to block a three point shot. I got the photo and video and it's gruesome. See it after the cut...but viewers discretion advised.

What a Wicked World-Man Pours Hot Water On 13-Year-Old Housemaid

A 13-year-old girl, Precious Edu, has accused the brother-in law of her employer of pouring hot water on her.
Edu, who said she was denied the opportunity of attending school after she was brought to work with Esther Amunde and her brother-in-law, Papa, in Calabar, Cross River State, said Papa poured the water on her after accusing her of splashing water on him.

She said after the hot water left some burns on her neck, shoulder and chest, she was left to wallow in pains for two days until neighbours took her to the hospital for medical attention.
Narrating her ordeal to PUNCH Metro on Saturday on her sick bed, Edu, who is currently being treated at the Calabar General Hospital, said she was brought to Ekorinim area of the state from Obudu in the northern part of the state to work as housemaid on the agreement that she would continue her secondary education.
But the situation changed as she was allegedly denied schooling by Amunde, who insisted that Edu must not be distracted from taking care of her little son.

"I almost died" - Lil Wayne

Lil Wayne nearly died following his latest seizure.

The Lollipop hitmaker has confirmed he is epileptic and says his recent bout of attacks earlier this month nearly finished him off after his heart rate decreased to '30 per cent'.
Speaking to radio station Power 106, he said: '[I’m] prone to seizures. This isn't my first, second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh seizure. I've had a bunch of seizures, ya'll just never hear about them.
'But this time it got real bad 'cause I had three of them in a row and on the third one, my heart rate went down to like 30 per cent. Basically, I could've died.'
Earlier this month, Wayne spent six days at California's Cedars-Sinai Medical Center's intensive care unit (ICU), where he was treated after suffering his latest seizure. He was later released from the medical facility and Wayne's close friend, Young Money president Mack Maine, took to Twitter to share the good news with his followers He wrote: 'Thanks to Cedar Sinai for everything!!! @LilTunechi has been officially been released and is headed home....God is great (sic)'.
And Cash Money CEO Birdman added: 'God Bless.my son just release frm hospital.thanks 4 all tha luv.YMCMB.Richgang (sic)

How did you come into acting?

I have been around since 1999, I just walked into an audition centre and I was chosen.

How has it been?

It’s been a whole lot of challenges because at first it was not easy, but we glorify the name of the Lord.

Currently, I am working on my profile, to look inwards and move into the corporate world, do some corporate shows or probably get an endorsement.

You shot into the limelight with the bad girl character in the films, jenifa and Omo Gheto; are you that bad a person?

No, I am a very simple person, I m a cool babe.

You once told me that after your university you just walked into an audition session and got a role, were you harassed sexually as being claimed by some people?

There is no industry where there is no sexual harassment because if it did not happen to you, you will not have the gut to say ‘wow! I have come a long way’.

Nigerian Shines As UNESCO Science Laureate, Wins $100,000

A Nigerian female scientist has bagged a prize of $100,000, as one of the winners of the 2013 L’Oréal-UNESCO Awards in Physical Sciences.

Professor Francisca Okeke, the first female Head of Department, University of Nigeria Nsukka bagged the 2013 Laureate award for her significant contributions “to the understanding of daily variations of the ion currents in the upper atmosphere which may further our understanding of climate change.”
UNESCO says Professor Okeke has made the study of the ionosphere her lifetime work. The ionosphere lies between 50km and 1000kms above the earth surface.
