President Goodluck Jonathan has pledged that he will interact with
state governors who discriminate in matters relating to religious
beliefs in the sponsorship of pilgrims to Jerusalem for annual
pilgrimage by Christians.
The president made the pledge Monday when he received the report of the
Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor-led Federal Government delegation to the 2012
Christian Pilgrimage to Holy Land at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Jonathan's pledge was informed by Oritsejafor's claim that some state
governments from the northern part of the country declined to sponsor
any Christian pilgrims for the exercise, listing such states as: Jigawa,
Kano, Katsina, Sokoto, Zamfara, Benue and Gombe.
