As part of efforts to
fight the scourge of HIV/AIDS, the Akwa Ibom State government says it
would soon commence free distribution of customised condoms to all
hotels and hospitality outfits across the state.
The chairman of Agency for AIDS and HIV prevention in the state, Dr. Francis Udoikpong stated this yesterday in Uyo while briefing newsmen on the activities of the agency.
He said that the current administration in the state was very much worried about the increasing rate of the killer disease which he noted had claimed many lives in the past.
Udoikpong said that government would not fold its arm and allow the dreaded disease take its toll on its citizenry.
‘’We are worried and scared, hence we have decided to order for customised condoms to be given to our people in our resolve to ensure that the people develop the culture and interest in the use of condom for protection,” he stated.
The agency’s chairman warned that HIV/AIDS is not written on any human face and advised the people of the state to either stick to one partner or imbibe the use of condom when engaging in casual sex.
