Fred Amata plans big for 50th birthday

Nollywood actor-director, Fred Amata will be  50 on May 16, 2013.

The Isoko, Delta State-born thespian, we gathered, is gearing up for an extravagant 50th birthday celebration in the month of May. The actor’s new girl friend, Maureen Mor Okonkwo, sources say, has been the main facilitator for the spectacular celebration coming up in two months time

.

The actor’s girlfriend whom he started dating some months ago is making plans to ensure his first birthday with her is unforgettable. She had sold the idea to Fred’s closest friends and colleagues who in turn, have teamed up with her in planning the grand birthday celebration.

Fred and Mor, reportedly met in the US a few months ago, where Mor is based. Since then, the couple has been inseparable as she is always tagging along with him to events. A single mother of two, Mor is a management consultant and also runs a catering company here in Nigeria.

When NET called the actor/producer/director who is arguably the most famous of the Amata clan, he expressed his profound gratitude to God, family and friends. ‘I am indeed grateful to God for keeping me and my family all through these fifty long years.’

On the anticipated golden jubilee celebration, he says ‘Most of the planning stage is being handled by my friends, some of the details are still unknown to me, but when they let me know I will also let you know.’

A committee comprising of Fred’s friends has been set up to oversee the planning.We’ve been told the committee is also considering plans of having a novelty football match, a show and dinner to celebrate the actor’s birthday plus long standing contributions to Nollywood.

Amata is the ex-husband of television talk show host Agatha Amata. The marriage was blessed with two children, Oreva and Stephanie who are now in their teens.

Fred also has a 5-year old daughter, Zino, with the current President of the Actors’ Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Ibinabo Fiberesima, with whom he enjoyed a swirled  romance.

A Theatre Arts graduate of the University of Port Harcourt, Fred and his siblings Zack, Alex, Ruke, Erumena and of course nephew, Jeta, have proved the Amata name as a force to be reckoned with in Nollywood.
