Like the Biblical king Saul in the inner sanctuary of the witch of
Endor seeking solutions on how to reclaim a
kingdom slipping out of his
grips, Anambra state Governor, Mr. Peter Obi Saturday led the chieftains
and every other person who is somebody in the All Progressives Grand
Alliance (APGA)in the South East to literally invoke the spirit of the
late leader of the party, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu to rally
support for the beleaguered party.
The occasion was the one day rally organized at the Alex Ekwueme park,
in Awka in commemoration of one year of the burial of Ojukwu who was
interred in his Nnewi country home on March 3, 2011.
Amidst the sea of supporters drawn from the state’s 21 council areas
in rented buses, Governor Obi flanked by the Anambra state Chairman of
the APGA, Chief Mike kwentoh, Dr. Maxi Okwu, the interim National
Chairman appointed in the wake of Chief Victor Umeh’s loss at the Enugu
High Court, Ambassador Frank Ogbuewu from Ebonyi state, Hon. Chuma
Nzeribe, Hon. Okey Udeh, Hon. Emeka Nwogbo, Hon. Victor Ogene,
Ambassador Bianca Ojukwu and a host of others said APGA was not in
crisis because all members of the House of representatives on the party
plat -form from the South East and those who contested the 2011
governorship election on the same platform were there.
The APGA he said is a party founded by its late leader, Dim Chukwuemeka
Odumegwu Ojukwu who he said remained its leader even in death and those
of his living disciples are still promoting Ojukwu’s ideals while
reminding his spirit that “we are where we are”.
Consequently he said that APGA will not be part of any merger arrangement with any political group or association because it does not want to be a minority in a majority.
