According to a reliable source, the suspected kidnappers trailed Mrs Blessing Affe from her home. As at the time of filing this report, the suspected kidnappers were demanding N25 million ransom for the release of Mrs Blessing Affe.

Why Yakowa, Azazi’s Helicopter Crashed

The Military yesterday blamed the crash of the Nigerian Navy Augusta Helicopter marked NN07, which came down in the bushes of Okoroba area of Bayelsa State, on human and material error.
A statement from the Nigerian Navy said the report, which was an interim one, was released by the Accident Investigation Board (AIB) constituted by the Nigerian Air Force at the instance of the Navy to ascertain the cause of the fatal crash in which the Governor of Kaduna State, Dr. Patrick Yakowa and the former national security adviser, General Andrew Azazi, were killed.
The statement signed by Commodore Kabiru Aliyu was silent on what “human and material failure” could mean to a layman but Daily Sun learnt from other sources that the human aspect of the error could be linked to some things the air wing of the force was supposed to do but did not do before the ill-fated flight, while the material error was linked to issues concerning the state of the engine before the flight.

LUTH Nurses Ignored My Pregnant Wife As She Lay Dying – Bereaved Husband

Heavens smiled on Mr. David Akingbehin, when his 45-year-old wife, Margaret, told him she was pregnant.

After their last one was born 12 years ago, the couple had tried to have another for more than a decade without success.

“When we learnt she was pregnant, we were overjoyed,” David told our correspondent.

He said they agreed that the gift from heaven must be well taken care of. So, Margaret registered for ante-natal at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Idi-Araba, Lagos.

“She never missed her ante-natal appointments. In fact, medical officials at LUTH commended her for her regular attendance. She went there every Thursday. We knew she was due between February and March,” David told Saturday PUNCH at their home in Kofoworola Street, Jakande Estate, Isolo Lagos on Sunday.

The hospital source, who spoke to newsmen on condition of anonymity, said the nurses would not resume work until their colleague was released. When contacted, the Police Public Relation Officer, Mr. Famous Ajieh said he was yet to be briefed on the matter. However, a senior police officer attached to the Isiokolo Police Division confirmed the incident and said the police was on top the issue.

BIZARRE: Sheep Gives Birth To Lamb With Human Features (Photo)

Residents were shocked after a sheep belonging to one of the residents bore a lamb with features that closely resembled those of a human being.

Speaking to the media, the sheep owner Rita Nabangala said she was equally shocked after the incident. Rita explained that this was the third time the sheep was giving birth but no such incident has ever been witnessed.

 

It is said that the sheep took a long time to deliver prompting villagers to come to its rescue only to deliver the unique creature contrary to everyone’s expectation.

 

She affiliated the occurrence to bestiality from evil people. It was noted that there had been increased cases of people sleeping with animals, an issue that the residents wanted the area chief to look into.

 

The lamb died after some time and was later buried.

More Than 140 Million Girls To Become Child Brides In 2020 – UN

The UN on Friday said that by 2020 more than 140 million girls would have become child brides globally if the current marriage rates continue.
It warned that little progress has been made towards ending the harmful practise.
According to the Executive Director of the UN Population Fund (UNFPA), Dr Babatunde Osotimehin, of the 140 million girls, 50 million will be under the age of 15.

Comedian Fined For Mocking Zidane

A comedian who called Zinedine Zidane "a billboard with three neurones" has been fined for insulting the former France captain by a Paris court.

Christophe Aleveque was ordered to pay €5,000 in damages to Zidane by the French capital's Court of Appeal following the insults, which appeared in an interview the comedian gave to Sport-Mag in January 2011. Aleveque had also called the 1998 World Cup winner "a whore", and said he was "as stupid as a dick".

Man Burns 13-Year-Old Girl With Hot Knife For Stealing Sachet Milk

The human right department of the Ojo police division has arraigned a 40- year-old man before the Ojo Magistrate’s Court on a two- count charge of using hot knife to inflict injuries on a 13-year- old girl after accusing her of stealing a sachet milk.
Inieke David who hails from Abak Local Government of Akwa Ibom State, was allegedly reported to the police by staff of L.A Nursery and Primary School in Ojo local Government area for using a hot iron to inflict injuries on his niece accusing her of stealing milk.

Malik Obama, the 54-year-old half-brother of U.S. President, Barack Obama, failed miserably in his effort to get elected as a governor in Western Kenya as results on Friday showed that he received just 1 per cent of the votes cast in his constituency.
The Kenyan accountant, who ran as an independent, garnered just 694 votes in a race with over 55,000 ballots cast in Siaya County. The winner was William Odhiambo Oduol, with 56 per cent of the vote.

Ogun Speaker’s Wife Delivers Triplets In U.S. Hospital

Barely four days after he escaped being toppled as the Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Suraj Adekunbi had another cause to celebrate; as his wife delivered a set of triplets on Friday in the U.S.
There was even more cause for joy as the speaker celebrated his 38th birthday on the same day. .
It would be recalled that the speaker was locked in a battle with the majority group of the two factions of the state lawmakers, which led to his suspension and the ushering in of a protem speaker.
However, luck was on his side as within 24 hours of his suspension, the governor, Ibikunle Amosun, waded in to end the crisis in the assembly.
The 26 members of the House of Assembly have since resumed work with embattled speaker back at the helm of affairs.
When contacted, the speaker’s media aide, Akinola Waheed, confirmed the birth of the speaker’s triplets; saying that the babies and their mother are in good health.

Nigerian Police Nab Alleged Mushin Gang Leader

A suspected Mushin robbery gang leader, Shakiru Sanni, 31, a.k.a. Osama bin Laden,  has been arrested by the operatives at the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad, FSARS, at Adeniji Adele Road, Lagos Island, southwest Nigeria.
According to the police, Sanni, who has been arraigned in court and remanded in prison custody,  has been on the run since 2009 after he allegedly led others now in prison custody to rob and kill four persons.
The suspect was arraigned before an Igbosere magistrate’s court on a 6-count charge of felony to wit, armed robbery, murder, terrorising victims and unlawful possession of firearms.
Investigation by the police revealed that the accused, who had been on the wanted list of the police for the past three years, was arrested for allegedly killing four persons and robbing others.
Some of the gang’s victims, the police said, included a 9-year girl identified as Lateef Aminat who was killed on 7 December, 2010; Shina Ajah, shot dead on 22 September, 2010, and Adedeji Adenuga who was killed on 22 February, 2009.
The police further stated that Sanni was mentioned as the leader of the Mushin robbery gang by Lukmon Lawal a.k.a. Oko and Monsuru Ibrahim a.k.a. Danglish, now in prison custody for the same offences.
They revealed this during their interrogation by the police after they were arrested last year with  one AK-47 rifle, one pump action shot gun and one AK-47 live bullet.

NNPC Manager Arraigned Over N285.2 Million Fraud

A former depot supervisor of Total Nigeria Plc, Emmanuel Abulude, was Friday arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, before an Ikeja high court for allegedly stealing petroleum products worth N285.2 million.
The former oil company official was charged  on a one-count charge of stealing by fraudulent conversion before Justice Lateefa Okunnu with his company, Emmanbyink Ventures Limited.
