Contrary to a BlackBerry broadcast
that circulated on Monday in which some individuals raised an alarm over
the disappearance of Ajegunle-born Ekwe exponent, Sunday Osakuni, aka
Stereoman Ekw in police custody, an insider has confirmed to Saturday
Beats that the singer is fine.
The source
said that after the May 2012 arrest and detention of Stereoman at the
State Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba, Lagos, in connection with
the death of his wife, Rukayat Idris, his family and that of Rukayat
were able to broker a peace deal.
“Some of his singer friends were
able to meet with the family of the wife and police over the matter
because it became clear he must have spoken out of turn, thus
implicating himself in his wife’s death. Actually, someone told me he
saw him in a club not long ago. He has been out of police net for a
while now,” the source, who preferred to be anonymous told Saturday
Beats.
Stereoman was implicated in the death of his wife on April
13, 2012.
Rukayat’s corpse was discovered in her car by the Trade
Fair Complex along the Badagry-Seme Road. She was suspected to have been
strangled.
The broadcast reads, “Stereoman, the Ekwe exponent,
was arrested by policemen from the SCID, Panti, for murder and detained
for months without trial is suddenly missing.
“We should ask the
police to produce the musician as it is alleged that he may have been
killed extra-judicially.”
