Nigeria News: AN OPEN LETTER TO PRESIDENT GOODLUCK JONATHAN Over Boko Haram Amnesty.
Sir,
I wish to remind you of the
inherent & unavoidable dangers that will arise as soon as your
planned amnesty to boko haram is carried out. It is quite pathetic that
you eventually succumbed to the pressure of the Northern Elders Forum by
accepting to grant amnesty to their political weapon, boko haram.
Though, their agitation for
amnesty to boko haram undoubtedly, may not be
unconnected with what the Niger Delta militants have been enjoying from
their package. Hence, doing same to boko haram will be in line with the
principles of federal character, which centred on equity, justice &
fairness.
Sir, having resolved to embark
on this 'amnesty package', I urge you to consider creating Ministry of
Amnesty because more rebel groups will definitely emerge from other
parts of the country like Igbo, Yoruba & even the minority Middle
Belt with the aim of getting their own package.
Should the federal government
fail to grant amnesty to any rebel group that will emerge from any part
of the country, who are yet to get their own 'package', it then means
that the principles of federal character has been distorted & such
group will reserve every right to seek for justice in the court of law.
Thanks.
Yours faithfully,
Ndu Bernard Nze.
