Continental-Re Builds Home for Less Privileged

In furtherance with its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, Continental Reinsurance Plc (Continental-Re) is co-sponsoring the building project at the SOS Children Village in Owu Ijebu, Ogun State.

The company said the unveiling of the sponsorship plaque recently was an expression of its commitment to improving the lot of the less privileged in the society by giving back to its host communities.
As part of the sponsorship programme, the reinsurance firm took upon itself the financial responsibility for 10 children whose ages ranged between 3 and 14 years in the home.

According to the Managing Director of the company, Dr. Femi Oyetunji, the sponsorship programme would cover health, educational and physical needs of the affected children on an annual basis among others of things.

Speaking during a visit of the company’s management to the home recently, Oyetunji said the visit was part of the company’s way of giving moral and financial support to the children, because it wants them to have access to a bright future.

Continental-Re would continue to add value to the society where it is operating through corporate social responsibility, he stressed.
Oyetunji also assured that his organisation would continue to be involved in initiatives that help to eradicate poverty in the society while contributing to the social and economic development of the country.
Representatives of the company also visited the children recently and donated various items, including beverages, detergents, food, etc. to them.

Oyetunji said the company was also involved in providing financial assistance to other organisations involved with the care of hearing and sight impaired children and other social care initiatives, not only in Nigeria but also in its other regional offices, located in Abidjan, Douala, and Nairobi.

Some of the organisations that benefited from the financial donations are; Pacelli School for the Blind and Partially Sighted Children, Lagos; Onikan Health Centre, Lagos; Wesley School for Hearing Impaired Children (1&2), Lagos; National Handicap Carers Association, Lagos; Foyer De L’enfance SOS Villages, Abidjan; and Kenya Red Cross Tana Delta reconstruction, Nairobi.
