FG Names Vice Chancellors, Registrars for New Universities

The Minister of Education, Prof. Ruqqayatu Rufa'i, has announced the appointments of Vice-Chancellors for the newly established universities in Kebbi, Yobe and Zamfara States.

The VCs are Prof. Shehu Abdul Rahman for the Federal University, Gashua, Yobe State; Prof. Lawal Suleiman Bilbis for the Federal University, Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State and Prof. Ben Chuks Okeke to head the Federal University, Gusau, Zamfara State.

A statement issued by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Dr. MacJohn Nwaobiola, disclosed that the appointments are to take immediate effect.

The statement added that: Professor Isaac Asuzu had also been appointed as the Vice-Chancellor, Federal University, Oye-Ekiti, Ekiti State to replace Prof. Chinedu Nebo who was appointed Minister of Power.

The Education Minister also announced the appointment of Registrars for the new institutions. "They are: Alhaji Sule Dauda (Federal University Gashua), Mr. Ibrahim Mungadi, Federal University, Birnin Kebbi and Mr. Ibrahim Bawa Kaura, Federal University, Gusau.

She disclosed that all the appointments followed the laid-down rules which require a Vice-Chancellor to among others “be an experienced former Vice-Chancellor or Deputy Vice-Chancellor with sufficient scholarship and leadership backed with area of specialisation relevant to the primary area of focus of the new university.”
