Months after the death in Ibadan of
Nigeria’s famous soccer star, Rashid Yekini, SaharaReporters has learned
of the passing of his team mate and also ex-Nigeria international
footballer, Yahaya Gaku, in Kaduna.
Yahaya Gaku, according to another ex-international in Kaduna town who does not want to be identified, died in a private hospital. The source said Gaku had been coaching a football club in Saudi Arabia, but returned to Nigeria recently with health concerns.
He played active football doe Kaduna Textile Limited in the early 80s, moving to African Continental Bank (ACB), El Kanemi in Maiduguri,and then Kano Pillars, before moving to Saudi Arabia. In that country, he played for El-Shabaab and El-Tai FC in Halal.
He also had a stint with Super Eagles
