Five members of the dreaded sect, Boko Haram, were on Wednesday morning shot dead in Sokoto, Sokoto State by security operatives.
A combined team of security operatives carried out the raid on the hideout of the Boko Haram sect in Bado Quarters in Sokoto metropolis.
The team was made up of soldiers, police and Department of State Security Service operatives.
Nigerian soldiers surrounded a suspected militant's hideout in Bado suburb of Sokoto township leading to a fierce gun battle.
The suspected gunmen reportedly rented a flat in a new housing Estate in Bado area, using the house as their operational base.
Sophisticated arms and ammunition were recovered from the hideout of the Boko Haram sect.
