29 Suspects Arrested in A’Ibom over Kidnapping, Arms Factory

Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested twenty-nine suspects for
various offences including kidnapping, armed robbery, car snatching and
local arms factory.
The State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Umar Gwadabe who disclosed this
to Thisday Friday during an interview said all the suspects are being
investigated and would be prosecuted if found wanting.
He said a combined team of Anti-kidnapping squad, SARS and SSS of the
command stormed a kidnappers’ camp at Ikot Nya and rescued one Ukwana
Akpabio who was kidnapped November last year with three suspects
arrested.
Mr. Gwadabe who spoke through the Police Public Relations Officer
(PPRO), ASP Etim Dickson disclosed that seventeen suspects were arrested
when the security operatives raided criminal hideout and black spots in
Ibiono Ibom, Ukanafun, Ibesikpo Asutan, Uyo, Etinan local government
area division of the command.
The Commissioner said twenty-three motorcycles, some without
registration numbers suspected to be stolen were recovered from their
hideouts as well as thirty-six scaffold iron rods.
He revealed that a team of Policemen from the Ikot Ekpene Division
raided a local arms factory located at Ikot Ennua village in Ikono local
government area of the state and arrested one Udo Ekaette Udo aged 60
years and Okon Udo aged 45.
