Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN), has set up a committee to investigate all issues of persistent friction and intransigence at the Ladipo Market with the aim of fostering understanding between the government and the operators of the market.
The committee made up of four commissioners, a general manager and  seven  appointees of Ndigbo Lagos, was mandated to work out a lasting solution to end the frequent clashes between the Lagos State Government and the traders over the environmental condition of the market described as the largest motor spare parts market in Africa.
Fashola at a meeting held with the new executive of Ndigbo Lagos, an umbrella body of all Igbo organisations led by its President General, Professor Anya O. Anya , last week  restated the commitment of his administration in providing a conducive atmosphere for all residents in the state to carry out their legitimate businesses.
Also, in a release signed by the Publicity Secretary of Ndigbo Lagos, Chuma Igwe, and made available to THISDAY, the group,  while making a  passionate plea for the reopening of Ladipo  Market, also  condemned what it called  “deficit of good conduct and orderliness by operators in the market.”
According to the release “On grievances and complaints by resident non-indigenes of high handedness by the government’s law enforcement agents, the governor expressed confidence on the grievance handling structures and procedures  in the State and enjoined Ndigbo-in-Lagos and indeed all Lagos citizens to take advantage of these structures whenever they have complaints and condemned any paranoid suspicion and resort to self-help”
The group, however, lauded the governor for his exemplary dedication to crime fighting and development and encouraged him to continue on his laudable path of more inclusiveness in the creation of employment and enjoyment of economic opportunities
