The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has budgeted over N4 billion for the construction of new office for African First Ladies Mission currently chaired by Nigeria's first lady, Mrs. Patience Jonathan. The proposed edifice has been subject of controversy as many Nigerians considered it a colossal waste of national resources.
But Mrs Jonathan has insisted that the complex is necessary and has urged lawmakers to approve its construction. But with the First Ladies' inability to keep the flag flying at the temporary office located at Bayelsa State House, one may wonder how they will maintain the multi-billion naira edifice they propose to build.
